Veronica’s Tips for Choosing a Pregnancy Pillow!

As my belly grew bigger, it became harder to sleep well at night, and discomfort such as back and lower-back soreness started to appear. My husband kept reminding me to buy a pregnancy pillow, but with so many choices available, I had no idea where to begin. After doing some serious research online, I found several important factors to consider. Taking both quality and value for money into account, I chose Gennie’s pregnancy pillow (and online shopping made it so convenient). Here are the key points I considered:

1. Shape: Pregnancy pillows on the market come in all kinds of shapes, but as an expectant mother who values function and practicality, I wanted a multi-purpose pregnancy pillow rather than one that could only be placed between my legs while sleeping. Otherwise, I would need several different pillows, which would take up too much space at home. In addition to being great for side sleeping, the one I chose can support my lower back as a cushion, elevate my legs when they feel swollen, and most importantly, serve as a nursing pillow after the baby is born. When spending time with the baby, I can also use the pillow to support the baby securely on my lap. Another important point is that the pregnancy pillow cannot be too large, or it will compete with my husband for space in bed at night (ha!).

2. Pillow material: The pillow must feel comfortable to hold, but it should not be too soft—it needs to provide proper support. If it is too soft, it may not offer enough support for the lower back and may flatten quickly, making it less comfortable to use.

3. Pillowcase design: The surface of the pillowcase should be smooth and comfortable to the touch, without feeling scratchy. It also needs to be breathable, so I will not get too hot while holding it at night and end up kicking it off the bed. It should also have buttons that allow the shape of the pregnancy pillow to be adjusted. Ideally, the zipper should be concealed to prevent it from scratching the skin.

Gennie’s pregnancy pillow meets all three of these requirements. I am about 168 cm tall, and it is just the right size to sleep with between my legs at night. This pregnancy pillow is also quite lightweight—about the same weight as a regular pillow. I saw many other pregnancy pillows online that looked large, heavy, and space-consuming, so I am glad I made the right choice. I originally thought my husband could be my pregnancy pillow and let me drape my leg over him at night, but I was definitely expecting too much. In the end, I can only sleep with my leg over the pregnancy pillow instead.
